District 58 State Representative DeWayne Burns is guest speaker at the Keene Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon at noon Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Keene Community Center, 1000 N. Old Betsy Road in Keene. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

The meal is catered by La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant. Admission is $18 per person for those who RSVP by noon Tuesday, Aug. 23 to 817-556-2995 or info@keenechamber.org. Admission at the door is $20.

This is Burns regular August visit at the Keene Chamber luncheon. He will present a legislative update and talk about issues on which he is working.

Burns was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2014 and is currently serving his third term in office. Raised in southwest Johnson County, he attended public schools in Cleburne and earned a Bachelor of Science from Tarleton State University in 1994.

He has served in his local community as vice president of the Cleburne ISD board of trustees, as president of the Johnson County Farm Bureau, as a member of the Johnson County Economic Development Commission, and as a Fire Commissioner for the Johnson County Emergency Services District #1.

Burns married his high school sweetheart, Jennifer, and they are the parents of two sons, Parker and Austin, and a daughter, Emma. They believe service is a family affair that is inspired by faith and exemplified in Jesus Christ. The Burns Family are members of First Baptist Church of Cleburne.
